Harnessing Your Sexuality

How Those Wonderful Strap-Ons Work

When you’re talking about strap-on dildos, it’s easy to turn all of your attention to the dildo and forget about the all-important strap-on component. Namely, your harness. That would be unfortunate, because the harness makes all the best parts of strap-on play possible; hands-free activity and gender role reversal, among other things. Let’s take a moment to consider how the best harnesses make strap-on play so pleasurable.

Harnesses come in two different types—a two-strap thong and a three-strap jock. Either are perfectly fine for strap-on play; what type you should use just depends on personal preference and physical comfort with the harness. Either harness can be made from a variety of different materials, the most common being nylon, rubber, and leather. Rubber harnesses tend to be the cheapest of the lot, and while they’ll stretch to accommodate your size, they tend to be the least comfortable. The dildos that come with rubber harnesses tend to be on the cheap and crappy side themselves, though if you have a favorite, you should be able to easily interchange it by swapping out the dildos and fastening yours within the harness’ o-ring.

Nylon’s a good mid-range material. It’s elastic enough to ensure a comfortable fit, so there’s not as much concern about chafing as with rubber. It’s also easy to wash, a plus considering what you’re using it for. Then there’s leather. Many strap-on enthusiasts find leather harnesses to be the most comfortable, but damn, they’re expensive. They’re also a bear to clean; you can’t just toss one of these beauties into the washing machine. Nevertheless, if you’ve got the cash to spare and don’t mind the heavier duty maintenance they require, leather harnesses will give you the penultimate strap-on experience in style and comfort.

Once you’ve got your harness, wearing it’s easy—they’re all a one-size-fits-all proposition with easily adjustable straps. Then just have the dildo of your choice snapped into the harness’ o-ring and you’re ready to go. Harnesses are the underpinning of all strap-on activity, making it worthwhile to choose yours carefully.
